LOYALTY (PART II)

Sometimes, your friends are all you have. You back the people who back you. Sometimes, that takes you off the side of the angels and puts you in league with the devils. Wherever you land, be true to your claims.
Right and wrong are matters of perspective. A lion probably believes it is wrong that he remain hungry when there is food to be had. An antelope most likely believes it is wrong that he die that a lion may eat.
And, perhaps, they are both so busy surviving that philosophy has no room in their minds.
Bear these things in mind. History is written by the victorious. 'Might makes right' is an axiom, a truth.
Nothing is all good or all bad. Some decisions are better than others. It is important that you do not commit yourself to a cause lightly. However, do not let your ego outrun your intellect and cause your mouth to write a check that your ass (discipline, demeanor, commitment level, or abilities) cannot cash. Never have someone depend upon you to deliver what you cannot. And never be afraid to stand aside if you cannot totally commit to whatever actions are required to see a choice through to its conclusion.
Make certain that you are fully aware of all possible consequences and repercussions arising when you choose to back a friend. Being unprepared can prove fatal. It is equally dangerous to spend too much time trying to analyze every conceivable scenario or outcome. Weigh your options against your goals. Make a decision. See it through.
Never dismiss the possibility of not getting your full, expected due returns in exchange for your loyalty. Be aware that betrayal is a possibility. But do not let caution become uncontrolled paranoia.
Chance favors the prepared. God is on the side of the victorious. Never rush in half cocked. Never retreat once you've decided to proceed.
