"The Fluttering Wings of the Crow"

Counting all the scars and
all the falls, and the stitches
that keep this man together
still, I sometimes sit back
and ponder being alive at all

The near misses and the kisses
of death; sometimes my breath
hold I, just waiting to exhale on
the other side...

But Goddammit, I'm still alive

So, I'll just let the heaviness in
my chest go; no more giving a
fuck about the how or when

Done with looking over my back
at every sound I hear...

I'll just smile at it when it finally
appears

Sometimes I see the gathering
of crows and hear their fluttering
wings; and in those moments
whilst looking in their ominous
and darkened eyes, I hope that
we connect and that they're here
to take me on my journey

They seem at times to be my
animal spirit; like with them I've
become one and connected in
the netherworld

The layers of the realms are paper-thin; there are times that we cross-over and interact with them without
even being aware

I've experienced this so many times
even as in this realm I have my life

So, I'll just let the heaviness in my chest go; no more giving a fuck about when or how

I'm done with looking over my shoulder at every sound I hear

So, when it comes, I'll smile as it appears

Cause, sometimes I see the gathering of crows and heart their fluttering wings;and in those moments whilst looking into their ominous and darkened eyes, I hope that we connect, and they at long last, take me on my journey
