Daring to ENTER

(a villanelle)

My finger taps the ENTER key,
No way to know what SEND will bring,
To let this go, to let that be.

She never bothered knowing me,
My wife wants me to be this thing.
My finger taps the ENTER key.

But you would truly have me be
That man that I am becoming,
To let this go, to let that be.

I do want all that's diff'rently,
That life with no belittling.
My finger taps the ENTER key.

You inspire my poetry,
So it’s to that I’ll be going,
To let this go, to let that be.

I’ll take that risk, that you and me.
In clicking SEND, it’s so freeing.
My finger taps the ENTER key,
To let this go, to let that be.
