When you’re just fourteen
The cops don’t take you serious
Even when it’s murder you know about
Even when it’s your sister who died on the beach
They don’t listen at all to you
Since you’re just fourteen
Not yet even a man in their eyes
You don’t understand the ways of the world
And you’re just upset since your sister died
But she wouldn’t go near even a pool
Wouldn’t dip her toe into a lake
Too afraid of the deep dark waves
And you know in your soul that’s true
But you’re just fourteen
So don’t waste my time boy
Stop calling to say she was murdered at all
We don’t believe you since she was a party girl
And they’ll do anything thing in the world
But the cops are the fools when you’re young
The should listen to the real truths you know
And get off their asses and go to work
But you’re just foolish and making a scene
When you’re just fourteen
So she’s just garbage on the beach to them
They don’t care about the why what or when
And the facts can stare them straight in the eyes
But coming from a boy they mean nothing at all
When you’re just fourteen
Old enough to know it all
But too young to tell them a thing
Turn around and walk away
And get old inside and out and turning grey
And know your sis was murdered when she was just eighteen
And the cops didn’t do anything
Since you were just fourteen

There is a fair bit of poetic license in this piece since I didn't hound the cops like mad but this is just what I think their response to my call that time was. It reflects how I felt about it.
