Monotone whispers

Morning's monotone whispers carry 'cross the fields
repeated tones drift through hedgerow and snicket
snails adding silence, prevent the blackbird song,
shrill warnings and courting calls to reluctant hens
less than this all silence would cease. Robin chatter,
to confirm silence needs sound as sky needs the
green of grass, skin to glaze in golden sun and dew,
Dew evaporates as the clock chimes six its hands erect
six more hours before they combine in unison at twelve
to part until  midnight strikes again.
