Commuter Man
Seven in the morning
And he walks
To the bus stop
To his government job, he's going.
To feed his family
And he holds
His briefcase and his suit is fold
To earn a salary.
Chorus/Bridge -
In the ranks of a thousand
especial people
make sure things run smoothly
and that the life quality
across the world, is envied.
Living in Orleans
Where homes are extra large
A big back yard
And two cars
In the garage
Cottage a reward
Kayak and private beach
Plums are hanging
And he keeps going for more.
Chorus/Bridge -
and he hopes the promotion
will make him a tad richer
along with his country
in the capital of Canada.

Based on a man I saw walking with a briefcase to catch a commuter bus in Orleans (Ottawa), ON when my own intercity bus pulled into town at 7 AM one Friday morning. Here's to you, commuter man and thousands others like you!

Leaving aside the last verse, could be dedicateable to the civil servants who work in UK. (Although our government seems hellbent on cutting their ranks, and diluting conditions of service - a biting of a hand that has helped governments over the century regardless of party colour.)
