Not as Easy

It's not as easy as it once was
To fake a smile through the day
Or pretend everything's okay
When will everything be alright?
As I lay awake through the night
Trying my best to conquer this blight
This pain is not a physical affliction
Nor is it a work of fiction
It's more real than any contradiction
More apparent than a drug addiction
Man, I'm not bluffin' when I say nothin'
Plundering my thoughts results in stutterin'
Are you comfortin' or smotherin'?
I'm left wonderin' and sufferin'
Will my life fade into darkness
Or is someone out there who isn't heartless
