Dawn to Dusk

On a blustery Autumn evening I stand on the edge of a cool horizon
Wondering where the warm breeze of morning has flown
While mourning days end under the deep red glow of once blue skies
Even the leaves have changed hue and fallen from atop the hills
Leaving behind scars hidden beneath the snow covered summit
Still my fair-weather seasons must come to an eventual end
For life only allows one of each and Winter's grip is now within reach
Springtime is so precious and unappreciated in each fleeting moment
Resiliency means nothing when growth comforts the young
Stretching their limits under the umbrella of innocence
Embraced by ignorance that shields us from the wisdom we seek
Now all I desire is for the winds of time to blow from the East
To carry me backwards across the folded tapestry of time
That I might breathe the sweet scents of pollen and flowers in bloom
Blown to the Spring dawn when the setting Sun was a lifetime away
