Preach

Paul’s apostolic anthem calls
The shuffling faithful to revelation,
In peels of plaintive screams,
Fretted fingers on sacred neck.

Acolytes and layman arrange,
As the madman priest ascends
The alter stage of waited Breath.
Beckoning worship from its pulpit,

With mystic rhymes and piping,
His sermon of howling loss,
A headlong run to empty ends.
Choruses echo the sainted psalm.

Spheres of heaven’s light appear,
Falling angelic on the supplicants,
Anoint the chosen with blessings:
Place and spirit, time and space.

Congregants divinely dancing,
Muscles moving in glorious prayer.
Ecstatic powers, thronging passions,
Dictates of priest’s silver sacrament.

No slowing down, way racing
To fanatic, raw, and primal pace.
With final phrase and flourish,
The piper-priest relents,

Rhythm powering holy release.
The mass reaching, reacts as one.
All assembled respond in unison,
Thunderous, resounding praise.
