Cinderella
If there is one thing I have learned from Cinderella
Is that she was strong before she met that fella
You know the one she calls her prince
and what I learned from the story is this
She was beaten down, with no support
She still kept a loving heart to her animal court
The mice, the horse, all the mouths she would feed
forced to sweep ashes and keep the house clean
She suffered harsh treatment
yet her glass slipper did not break
and when she met her prince
his heart was not fake
And when she gave him all that he desired
he valued her greatly
and with eyes he did admire
Her beauty and all she had to give him
A woman of character, even when she was not with him
She could show compassion
she could empathize
She was the epitome of honesty
never told a lie
So she could trust her prince to care for her the way he should
and knew that he would treasure her in the ways she'd hoped he would
Any man can bring gold, provide shelter to his wife
but the one who guards her heart is more valued than life
Stands up for her when he knows she cannot do it on her own
Guards her from those who might attack her outside of her home
Makes her feel safe and secure
be a pillar of strength when she cannot endure
make love to her and heal her wounded heart
Give her security in knowing he will never depart
What I really learned was this
Men of this nature-really don't exist
