Heavy Sleeper (song)

I'm so terrified, but I'll just tell you.
I want it to be so every time I breathe I smell you.
I'm so drawn in...
Like a shark in bloody water; I swim
(Mm)

You're so much more than shaky hands and empty cans;
I want it all, your smallest features call and beckon; break me down,
I feel the ground, you're made of sound
And oh, my body is an ear;
My lost is found,
Sensation pounds me
Like I'm really really here...

We could spend our lives under the lights that move outside; do you think they'd know
the faces they illuminated shadowed bodies made of stone?..
and sickness, fear
and love;
piety, anxiety...
And longing
For wrong things?

[chorus]
Just go deeper.
Please...
Can you go deeper?
Deep, can you go..

...

Too many times I've spent the night with emptiness
and every time, she rolls and writhes and hogs the bed...
I close my eyes, I know you're gone,
I know it's weird; I know it's wrong
But I imagine all the patterns, all the mazes of your skin...
I dream about your blood-soaked mouth;
I fantasize about your eyes
and how you'd look asleep across from me, slow-burning...
A teenage cherub, pretty turmoil turning.
You gorgeous mind, you easy bleeder;
I wonder whether you're a heavy sleeper.

[chorus]
Just go deeper.
Please...
Can you go deeper?
Deep...
Your phantom body, how it haunts me,
someday soon we'll find our home
In beat up cars by windy hearts and summer stars
That we stole...
(To take us deep)

On kitchen floors, the world ignored;
I'd live forever, underneath
your fingernails, your lips unveiled,
A million moments to be seen...
(To take us low)

You know je suis
votre chaton,
No desperate song can name reverie:
No heinous wrong, no mile so long,
No taste or dark, desiring creature
could ever paint you, heavy sleeper.

[chorus]
Go deeper,
Please...
Can you go deeper?
Mm, can you go..
