Mad, bad and dangerous to smile

He smiled quite dangerously as he put
An almost cordial note into his voice;
But, with a brutal calm, his words can cut
You to the quick, as he’ll insist your choice
Is bend and bare or just expose your breast:
Your punishment is due and discipline
May leave a maiden, for a while, distressed,
But then surges of hard beatings begin
To start a heart, with further heated marks
That score the flesh and coruscate the mind;
And they prove such a contrast to remarks
So softly spoken, civilised, you find
Yourself quite helpless, governed by his wiles
And all that danger, lying in his smiles.
