The Mists of Time
- The Mists of Time -
Each era of man is thought lost to all the ages,
When in reality, time is not ever so simply done...
Every deed is imprinted so well upon the ether,
So that the living universe itself remembers it all.
Each (every) forgotten moment known to sages,
Writ in tomes of history, in every known tongue...
And all of the poetry, every line and every meter,
Will be remembered long after a civilization's fall.
Measureless and measured, nothing is lost,
Everything endures, no matter what the cost.
All the cities that fade into the desert sands,
May one day rise again by an architect's hands.
There is a place in every mind we think is hidden,
But which every living soul possesses so secure.
A palace, grander than the gilt of old Versailles...
Wherein the moments of a lifetime are preserved.
Some think as little of it as they would a midden,
Whilst others flee to it as to some familiar shore.
Welcome and forbidden, like the evening skies...
Which either frighten or move when so observed.
Boundless and bound, nothing is forgotten,
All that is best, along with all that is rotten.
Every notion that has ever been given vent,
Cannot be taken back, once it has been sent.
In the mists of time, nothing is ever so truly past,
For even the cycles of ages can turn, like wheels.
Moving days and destinies to come and also go...
Only to come again, when the moment is at hand!
For eternity the wheels turn, and forever will last,
Causing every soul to wonder whenever it feels...
A moment that we lived before, of joy or of woe.
For always that moment will be a part of the land!
Endless and ending, nothing is beyond reach,
Not even the Heaven of which holy men preach.
We are only as far from the sacred as we sink,
And we are never truly as damned as we think.

I have oft been told that I have a very, very ancient soul as well as something of an intensely fiery kind of spiritual aura to me, and it tends to show a lot through my written works and of course my poetry especially. But when one has the full memory of all of their previous incarnations since pretty much forever, that is bound to come through every so often. If not downright frequently! Lol. I have yet to meet another person, even amongst those who believe in reincarnation as I do, who can actually actively recall just about everything when it comes to previous lives. Some people say that I remind them of a character from series like Highlander and Anne Rice's vampire stories because I have this ancient soul who can recall a day from a past life in the same way that I can recall what I was doing last Thursday with precisely the same level of clarity. It also makes it unusual for me when I meet people who turn out to be reincarnations of people I have known before in other lives, since to me it is like all one long life rather than many lives... and many times those people will remember me as well and we will speak of ancient times and what it was like when we knew each other then. And it is much like talking about what you did with a friend on a certain weekend! Only... different, too. So, my philosophies and knowledge of time are rather unique and different due to my rather broader perspective on such matters. For me, time is less a straight line than a cycle within a series of greater, cosmic cycles. In many ways, all that transpires in the present age has happened before in times past but under different circumstances. And such events will happen again in the future too, simply because history like time is cyclic rather than linear. Certain cycles can be broken naturally, but it takes people having knowledge of their karma and the ability to see the far greater patterns in things and what their place in such patterns is and how it can be changed in order to create a new and better cycle that can begin, to replace the old with. The universe is always something I am conscious of, and I've come to view it as a part of a greater multiverse as well, as time has gone on. I always share the wisdom that I gain, with others... since wisdom and knowledge that is shared can lead to the beginnings of great changes and a deeper understanding of a great many things. I am happy you enjoyed my poem and thank you for the comment on it! :)
