A MESSAGE FROM THE ANGELS

Sitting on the curb in Coolangatta
 contemplating my life I was
working two jobs so my family could survive
what a shit existence married to an addict
 Happy Birthday yep "35"
life is pretty miserable the future looks bleak
I never felt him sit down not until he did speak
A beautiful Maori boy I shall not say his name
for he sang Happy Birthday to me
on his way to international fame
I heard the voice of an angel
speaking right to me I looked into those
beautiful big brown eyes his voice
 was just heavenly,
I played softball with his (whanau) family
we talked and drank, smiles, music and cheer
It is a birthday that I will forever hold very dear.
Every time I hear him sing I see
the Angels hovering, this man has a
message in each song, if you listen
 as your singing along
he is even quoted to say
"are you feeling me? I wanna feel the light,
If you sing along to my songs on the way
 well that's even better ey!"
I will cherish forever that day
when an Angel sat beside me
 the brightest lantern enlightening
the darkest corners of the universe for
those who have lost their way
he gives us hope and strength
 to continue the fight everyday
Yes I was serenated by an Angel
 on that April day
