Image for the poem Fading

Fading

I try to talk
But I cannot speak
Washed out chalk
I feel like I'm fading

Colors splashed
A lovely masterpiece
Like fine china
Wasn't I your centerpiece?

I'm losing my grip
You're moving further
My fingers slip
And I blend into background

Another face in the crowd
Blurred out you cannot see
I scream out loud
But your eyes go past me

Use your hands and love me
Dip your brush onto my skin
Contour me and make me real
Breathe life into me once again

Ruby red
Baby blue
Forest green
Make me new

My tears fall
Streaking my face
No longer perfect
Everything out of place

My shading is changing
from dark to light
Solid to transparent
Black to white

I can't be forgotten
But I think it's too late
You have already gone
A new piece you found to create

I am frail, paper thin
No destination
Discarded canvass
An aberration
