Flew right over my head this one. It did!
I've been off to my strange wanderings too long it seems. My sense of humour lags and drags itself behind me like a lazy dog. It'll come around but I'd have to wait for it.  

Allow me to enlighten you unto the genius of this superb knock knock joke: ;)

See, there are two individuals as represented by the bold and italics. We'll call them b and i. When i replies "Hike who", it sounds like "haiku". Therefore, the comedic genius, b, (a metaphor for yours truly) corrects i that there are not enough syllables for a haiku, but in doing so, he answers in such a way that the entire conversation is in fact a haiku. The end result is a beautiful Senryu which combines a knock knock joke, a pun, and a good deal of irony in 17 syllable of poetic prowless.
