I do not understand, player?
let me try to explain… again…
it’s a smile or a nod
or the way they stand
just gotta… be aware…
of everything…
I can tell in half a minute
less than a sentence
if it’s yes!... or no…
if it’s stay… or… go
I just talk
looking at the response
touches her hair, her face
head down… eyes up…
by the second drink…
deal's already done…
just working out... the details…
90% is them... purely them
thinking I may be
the knight, the one forever,
the one they keep
half-right… she’ll keep one night…
so… they want
to hate the player...
or the game…
but the playmate’s the one...
that says, “yes…” "prick!..."
“don’t call me anymore…”
"please... come... back..."
I just let them think...
that explain it… player?!

The author encourages honest critique.
I like the truth of this. It takes two to tango and as adults we should innately know no moment lasts forever. What people say is the truth of that moment with no guarantee of the next. People change; circumstances change. Attachment leads to heart break; heart break leads to blame, and typically upon the other, thus eschewing personal responsibility for their own choices.*
* Disclaimer: Don't misunderstand me, there are predators who prey on those suffering from various traumas, e.g. - domestic violence, lack of self esteem, etc., and thus contribute to their emotional demise purposely. Those who are stuck in a loop of repeated pattern for lack of Love to give them hope for a better way. I'm not referring to those who become so desensitized by circumstance they have accepted their lifestyle with no hope of change, i.e. - ladies of the night (although I think some will always deeply believe there is a knight coming for them). I'm referring to those who are taken advantage of by narcissists and sexual predators for their own sordid delights.

I appreciate your insights... and thank you for the depth of the analysis... I have known the "casual" players like my narrator all my life... and I have seen the results from both sides... just trying to point out both sides...

Yes - two to tango... I spent too many evenings in commiseration with crying friends... "but I thought..." and in the back of my head I could hear them telling me a week earlier... "he's such a... (player)"
