The Man's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father

Thank You, for making me a man.
Thank you, for making me strong.
Thank you, for the fire you put inside me that makes me want more from life than just survival.
Thank you, for putting within me the desire that my children have a more plenteous life than I had as a child and the dream that they do better as adults than I do.

Thank you, for the things within my soul that make me willing to protect those I love. And thank you for the things I possess and have learned that make me able to do so.

Help me to endure, to remember that I am stronger than the trials I face as I go daily about the business of providing for those who look to me and depend on me to bring home what is needed for myself as well as for them.

In my home and in my place of business, help me to show the respect to those around me that I demand for myself.

Give me the strength I need to restrain my anger when there is an equally effective non-physical way to deal with a problem. Give me the knowledge that lets me find and apply this solution.
Give me the wisdom to know when "whoopin' a mothafucka's ass" is actually the proper course.
In this instance, give me strength as well.
Make me swift.
Make me powerful.
Make me tireless.
Help me to win.

Help me to use a firm enough hand that those I love know not to try me.
Let me show them enough love that they do not feel bullied or tyrannized when I give discipline or chastisement.
Balance the power you have placed within me with the patience and compassion that lets my loved ones know they can trust in me and depend upon me.

When I am right, help my woman to see this and follow me.
When I am wrong, give me the right mind to listen as my woman fulfills her role and guides me to the proper path.

If I sin against your calling for me as a man, let my errors be made in over enthusiasm as I pursue the man's path.
Let not my faults come through inaction or abandonment of my duties.
Guide me and strengthen me as I'm striving to be a protective provider who's laying the foundation for better things for those who love me, look to me, and depend upon me.

THANK YOU
AND AMEN!
