Over and Out
They tell you to be yourself;
why would you want to be anybody else?
"You're beautiful and smart," they say
"You can be dark as night, and bright as day.”
"Easy for them," you think.
They don't know about the bleach you drank.
You try to be happy, and you try to smile,
but it's hard when they call you a worthless child.
You wonder if you'll ever find happiness,
or if this weight will ever leave your chest.
Will you die trying,
or will you start soaring and flying?
Go out with a bang like thunder, and leave the rest to sit and ponder.
