Tale of Two

Whilst one had the holly leaves, the other had the seed,
whilst one put on a lunch spread for all,
the other had none to feed.

Whilst one gave presents to family, the other washed up, alone,
whilst one provided tales of Santa and Jesus,
the other sat by an unplugged phone.

Whilst one lit a fire and played Scrabble, the other played Solitaire,
whilst one told stories to their young ones,
the other was no longer there.
