Of mechanics and superheroes...

Two shoestrings
Four clothespins
Six rubberbands

My mechanics are truly incredible men

You want superheroes? I got 'em.

For the past several years, my car: a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier has been limping along.

Kept running in phenomenal ways

By my very own team of superhero mechanics

I'm quite serious about this.

I've considered, should I move, finding ways to return to them (and ONLY them) for any repairs I might need

When I've told them this, they've chuckled not realizing my utter sincerity

Unlike many mechanics I've come across previously, who've pretended to listen when I've come in indicating some auto malaise or complaint -  some sound I don't quite know precisely how to describe, but still try my hardest to convey, these men (no matter how daft they may have considered me) have always listened and taken me seriously

And, invariably, located the source of my mystified yet adamant description

Two shoestrings
Four clothespins
Six rubberbands

They've held my falling-apart vehicle together

Despite their OWN expectations

Last time I came in worried about a sound (and concerned over what the cost would be too),

they did somewhat they typically don't do and fixed it without giving me a chance to demur and put it off until later

I knew then twas somewhat quite serious (they were saving lives)

Superheroes, I tell you

I do rather adore them, especially when they tell me, quite seriously, precisely the issue at play

I endeavor to comprehend what it means when they say, for instance, as they did that last time

We had to fix it: the right front wheel bearing was completely gone

I know this surely must have been something major; I did not comprehend quite how major until another of them said:

I have no idea how your wheel was still on your car. None. It shouldn't have been.

Hmmm...

Of superheroes and Deity...

Today, I returned a call from my mechanic

He told me they had a car for me, one they'd fixed up, in sound condition and running extremely well

I know him well enough by now to know he's got a perfectionist streak in him

If he's giving me a vehicle, he's ensured it's as he deems fit

I wept and thanked him and wept some more and generally lost all articulacy

No coherency to be found within me

Did I remember to mention my mechanics are superheroes?
