What it means to Scream
I fight
Big might in wet blue eyes
Find wind for damaged wings
I sing
Big voice in trembling breast
Found deep in butterfly tummy
I hold
My deep red tick tock in hand
Stroke it's beat to slow
So i may stand
On legs that do not shake at knees
On strong thighs that do not hide
What has been roughed and taken
In between
I scream
No!
And the world has heard it quite clear
And I show what it means to scream
Big might in wet blue eyes
Find wind for damaged wings
I sing
Big voice in trembling breast
Found deep in butterfly tummy
I hold
My deep red tick tock in hand
Stroke it's beat to slow
So i may stand
On legs that do not shake at knees
On strong thighs that do not hide
What has been roughed and taken
In between
I scream
No!
And the world has heard it quite clear
And I show what it means to scream

Whoa!!! Getting down and quite heavy with
this one, Jennifer. From the text of this poem
I read (maybe wrongly) that "What it means
to Scream" is when passion is front and center
in your life is the reason for your screams, both
those vocal and those hidden inside.

I sometimes feel screaming it out is the best. Some people tend to curb this because they think it is impolite, but how impolite is it if it is ruining you from the inside?

I like this little write. there's a kind of almost child-like quality to the lines and phrases. your thoughts come across clear enough and there's some nice flow through the words.
something which stuck out a little for me was the word 'might' on the second line. I wouldn't say its the wrong word, just that it gave cause for pause. I wondered if you meant might in the context of 'could be' or in the context of strength
anyhow, nothing major
good stuff, keep shinnin'

In the context of strength darlin. Big might. There is very lil could be here. Howevet it doesn't bother me at all either way read. I like when one can infer what they need. This lil piece is actually about sexual violence. But i did not want to hammer it in. Wanted a feel to it. The child like writing intended...nice.
Thanks a lot for this insightful and well thought about review E. And for hangin on my page a minute.

Cutting loose with a scream is a profound relief, releasing the built up rage and frustration. Primal Scream Therapy was around for awhile. I haven't heard much about this lately, but I doubt that a therapist is required to expedite a shriek. There's a time and place, of course. Don't want to get hauled in for disturbing the serenity. Excellent work, Jennifer!

Deeply disturbing to have to scream NO. Hope they cut the nuts off of whoever took what is in between. Distressing and superb Jen.
