Swallow the Sun
I curl into nothingness
while you make me over with stories praising
everything you love and hate.
Tell me what I want to hear
and I promise not to believe a word of
what you can't help saying.
Swallow the sun, to
insinuate and flow as I writhe and coil
beneath your gaze.
Taking it in, yet you
haven't touched me once, only your voice
dripping words onto flesh,
sticking to the dampness
that puckers and yawns with each sensation.
It's all I need to know
as my spirit gravitates instead of imploding
without the drama.
How much easier now
to crawl inside me and bring the sun with you.

there are all sorts of possibilities waiting to be unlocked from your words - mythical, allegorical and sensual - all adding up to an intensity not many achieve here - without your being too dense or profound. A pleasurable read. I liked it.

i love the dichotomy of this. the idea of praising what you hate along with what you love is potent. the impact of course of those words is the heart of what you speak of...but that you are dressed with a yin yang of words makes it so much more delicious.

Thank you, poet. With you going back to earliest works when I was a newbie member. Like seeing me through the Hubble, viewing galaxies whose light you see from when they were still far from their spiral formation. I like someone doing that since there’s no autobiography of me to be had online, just my words of verse, to get inside my head.
