A silly morning ditty
I love you, dear Joe
Your expectations are low
As they need to be at my awaking
You never hurl questions
Or even suggestions
That cheerfulness I should be faking
You have no demands
You just warm my hands
And straighten the neurons all jumbled
Help me tune out the noise
Steam the rust off my voice
‘Til it’s more than just grunts and mumbles
You clear out the fog
And the haze and the smog
You patiently nudge the undead
Your gentle aroma
Brings me out of the coma
That urges me back towards bed
My morning-time friend
This need knows no end
You can call it addiction or crutch
It’s more pleasant for all
If I answer your call
Oh Joe, I love you so much!
Your expectations are low
As they need to be at my awaking
You never hurl questions
Or even suggestions
That cheerfulness I should be faking
You have no demands
You just warm my hands
And straighten the neurons all jumbled
Help me tune out the noise
Steam the rust off my voice
‘Til it’s more than just grunts and mumbles
You clear out the fog
And the haze and the smog
You patiently nudge the undead
Your gentle aroma
Brings me out of the coma
That urges me back towards bed
My morning-time friend
This need knows no end
You can call it addiction or crutch
It’s more pleasant for all
If I answer your call
Oh Joe, I love you so much!
