Sleep Eternal

These dry canopies,
Their little flowers fluttering
To the pools flowing by.
No hands are held here,
Merely silence walks
With veils between the wanderers,
Their breath to the odd lanterns
That glow little azure prayers.

Tell me we are but a dream.
Tell me we are but a dream.
Tell me these tears are the gift
For those who have survived.
Tell me the stars are never dead;
That in the night when they wake
The ghosts will disappear
To dream with me no more.

Tell me that the moon is smiling,
And the sun is Her ruby wish
That darkness may be delivered
To a sacred rest far beyond
The stage of the eidolon Fear.
Tell me this path is marked
By the tomb of our nightmares
And I will not fear meeting you here
Where the dusk streams His violet song
To the drumming of night's diamond heart.

And when we meet
Tell me that my breath
Is sacred in my slumber;
That the Heavens will not fall
If I hold it for but a while.
That the moon will not turn away
If I allow my heart to go,
If I allow my soul to lie
And fade into the echoes
Of they who met the Last Horizon,
Tell me to lay this kiss upon my palm
To the blushing that wakens me from the void
Tell me it means
Tell me it means
You will always be there
And I will take to the daffodils
With twilight on my breast.
