Pacing the Padded cell

 I saw her
when I looked into the room

film star face eyes of brown
smooth forehead unmarred
by sadness' frowns
lips red as pomegranate seeds

a beauty fencing in a screaming mind
seeing horrors in every walls
and floors that she walked on
hearing evil whispers from the air

the padded cell protected her
the sounds were muted
the piercing pain dulled
and the whispers mere hisses

staring into the distance
within a feet of the wall
she lived somewhere else
a lifetime of living

within her mind
I have been there too.
