Image for the poem Thandi Get Down

Thandi Get Down

Solitary evenings
camouflaged
mutually
in the affection of
Frankie's trunk

Mystical kinship, awaits
prying killers
in dense thick broom-grass

Blond locks water falling
over shoulders
covering the
357 Magnum
resting in home position
like an everlasting
limb

Grasping
fractured life
close to the heart
inked; to her left shoulder
like the dog tags
left behind

The beautiful sentient
guardian
kisses Lions
subdues human life
protects her Elephants
and model poses
love letters
with Leopards

Staring into
depths of
solitude
sunsets
Sipping
cocoa
strumming

campfire

 blues

-x-
