God-fearing Man
I refuse to fear God if it leads to one of three seeds
I was taught to believe it is love with which the Sacred Heart bleeds
To fear God or to love him, which choice is my fate?
Is it a sin to affix to God's skin the first seed of hate?
I will not conspire to breathe life in contempt's fire
That can't be the song the Lord sang to his choir
Does Jesus not love me? Should I reciprocate?
Will I offend him with this blasphemic debate?
Damned either way to fall through the fiery portal
Existing forever is not what makes souls immortal
It is rather that the spirit of what you believe never dies
And I want so badly to believe unconditional love never lies
I was taught to believe it is love with which the Sacred Heart bleeds

Is it a sin to affix to God's skin the first seed of hate?

Some things to ponder I presume...especially the way the world is today. This write was perfect for my mood this eve, JJ. I could talk about this and debate it for days. You got the lawyer in me wanting to prove something.<3

So ya just can't resist the temptation to play "Devil's Advocate" with me, eh?

If you want me to give in to you, just smile and bat your eyelashes at me, I'll give in to you over and over and...

To understand love, you must first know hatred. Someone told me that before, and it could be true. I thought I would hate my father for abusing me to an inch of my life...but I don't. Just pity. Love for God I suppose just is. Faith. :) Poetryman

Grace, I do not believe that you must know hatred before you can know love. I think most people learn love from their parents. I understand that is not how it happened in your life, so I understand why you feel the opposite. What should happen is that parents should love their children and raise them knowing love so that when they grow and come face to face with hatred, they recognize it as something they do not like or want in their life.
Faith is another issue for me. I was raised Catholic but never truly had faith. Many people have love without faith. Not all people are religious, but have loving families, so one is not necessarily dependent on the other. The one thing we must have to learn love is someone to show us love so that we no what it is beyond a 4 letter word. I was spoon fed religion from birth until I was a teenager at home, in church and at school, but never shown love. This is my experience and I am on my journey searching for what has been lacking in my life.
I reject hatred and the seeds that give it life, so I do not want to find love in God through the seed of fear that I believe can only lead to hatred.

I just don't think God wants to be feared. If I were God, or any god, I would want to be loved! Parents want their children to love them. Creators want their creations to love them...
Dictators want to be feared to control their subjects. It is a human trait, like hate. We are born with three seeds that are nurtured in the darkness within. Fear, greed and pride. Are these human weaknesses a part of God too? Is this why we have them? Did God make us in his own image and also infect us with his own disease? Is this why we cannot overcome prejudice? Because not even God could purge evil from his being, so he passed it on to us so he could sit in judgment of others? The hypocrisy is almost too much to comprehend! It is so much easier to point the finger of blame at everyone but yourself. Yet as the creator of all that you hate, is not their hate a taint on your soul?

Thanks for commenting Kitty! We all share universal questions but the answers are often clouded in the diversity of viewpoints all looking at the same mystery... jj
