The Weight of Reason
I continue
sharpening the brain
while it shrinks to nothing,
knowing medicines might delay
the inevitability of my own death
which remains only a word,
an illusion to push away
adding one more truth to those
I conveniently neglect to mention
during so called
honest, contemplation
preferring instead
to pin all hopes
on the heart of a coward--
and the twenty one grams
of the soul.
