9 Hours

🏙
1 Haiku, 3:30pm

winter, like a
lover I've grown tired of
who is loath to leave

🌄
2 Senryu, 7:05pm

from my bath, standing
at a mirror touching
the locket he gave me

🌃
3 Tanka, 8:00pm

pulling back the blinds,
my body adorned with
opal light

from a spring moon rising,
while resting, he lies watching

🌛🌜
4 Tanka, 9:30pm

on the nightstand
teacups rattle as we turn
in unison, leaving

new rings in the light
of a half-moon shell

🌜🌛
5 Senryu, 11:10pm

lying together,
he admires the scar
where a kidney once was

 🌌
6 Haiku, 5:45am

waiting for
the wild plum to bloom—
his morning rituals

 🌅
7 Haiku, 6:30am

early morning—
half dressed by a window
gazing at frost on the cars

🌇
8 Senryu, 8:00am

reading me his haiku—
steam from our morning tea
fogging his glasses

🏞
9 Tanka, 10:30am

anniversary—
last spring, I couldn't walk
and now

this morning so fair and yet
the gulls are flying inland
