Rodent Dreams
Her rabbit's feet
Twitched and rubbed
Like petrified fur
Excited and lost
In dying anticipation
Of the calling
And the falling game
With names glowing
And knowing not what
Was afoot foresooth
And her fur got warmer
From the rubbing
And the twitching
And the shameful itching
Not lost but gone
Under moon beams
And last dreams
Chasing and running
But who's doing what?
She forgot amid rubbing
And down she went slowly
In darkness to burrow
In warmth and in waiting
For stars and for morrows
And losses and sorrows
And clubbing and poaching
And salting and tasting
And ... zzzzzzzz
Twitched and rubbed
Like petrified fur
Excited and lost
In dying anticipation
Of the calling
And the falling game
With names glowing
And knowing not what
Was afoot foresooth
And her fur got warmer
From the rubbing
And the twitching
And the shameful itching
Not lost but gone
Under moon beams
And last dreams
Chasing and running
But who's doing what?
She forgot amid rubbing
And down she went slowly
In darkness to burrow
In warmth and in waiting
For stars and for morrows
And losses and sorrows
And clubbing and poaching
And salting and tasting
And ... zzzzzzzz
