I Wanna Be

She pulled up in a corvette
LATRAIL on the license plate
She had a smile with no regrets
She said get in I don’t wanna be late

A bottle of Jack, bag of cash on the floor
A memory in the makin'
We headed for that Georgia shore
Cause it’s there for the takin'

Her hair was like Farrah, while blowing in the wind
She sang like Janis Joplin, missing a word every
now and then
She had a style of her own
Like the "Outlaw Lady" played by Sharon Stone
We walked along the beach
Waves crashing around our feet

She pulled me near and whispered in my ear
I wanna be your sunrise
I wanna be your sunset
I wanna be all of your no regrets
I wanna be your smile
I wanna be your last mile
I wanna be your favorite song on an old cassette
You’ll play over and over again
But most of all... I wanna be your best friend

We crossed that river and found a of couple rings
Our lives found distance, our sole always remained together
Summer turned into fall, fall into winter, winter into spring
This hospital bed finds me holding your hand on
the edge of forever

She pulled me close and whispered in my ear (spoken)
You were my sunrise
Today I'll be your sunset
I never had any regrets
You were my smile
Today I'll be your last mile
l'll always be your favorite song on that old cassette
You’ll play over and over again
But most of all... You were my best friend
