Beautiful

When I look at you;
I see you......
through and through.
You....
The whole of you
The sum of all...
not one part or two.

You say that you
wish you could
see what I see.
In those words is
a glimpse of your beauty.

No mere reflection
in a mirror could
ever show;
all the beautiful
attributes that I know.

For the mirror
is cruel in its ways;
In it, our perceptions
are swayed.
It highlights faults
and imperfections,
that run through our psyche
like an infection.
Destroying what we know,
distorting the images it shows.

When I see you,
this is what I see;
all the kindness that
you have shown me.
Two beautiful eyes that
show warmth and understanding;
never judgmental nor demanding.

I see two concerned ears,
that have listened to
my worries and fears;
that you lend............
when my soul needs to mend.

I see your lips that have
offered thoughtful advice;
and loving words both
soothing and nice.
Have given a smile
when most in need;
always spoken the truth,
never deceived.

I see two hands and arms
that hold and console;
that give love's healing touch
when it is needed so much.

I do see your lovely face
that gives reason for
my heart to race.
I see your enchanting eyes,
in them beauty easily recognized.
I see your sweet lips
and imagine your kiss.
I see your beautiful
smile that I often miss.

These change and fade
with the passing of time,
but the others enjoy
an endless springtime.
So in my eyes your
beauty shall remain;
even with the passing
of time, unchanged...
always the same.
