My Smile
I used to smile
I used to love,
I gave you my heart
you gave me lies, excuses and pain,
you returned my heart
only the corners were black
pieces were missing,
how much love will it take to get them back,
how much love is needed to color me in?
you took away
all that made me me,
you left me broke
nothing but a sad joke,
you didn't just break my heart
you tore it out,
stole my soul,
scattered my parts
and laughed all the while
I tried to collect the pieces,
tried to find a way to smile,
drink after drink,
guy after guy,
anything to forget you for a little while
but every time I passed a mirror
I saw a broken reflection
for you still have my smile.
I used to love,
I gave you my heart
you gave me lies, excuses and pain,
you returned my heart
only the corners were black
pieces were missing,
how much love will it take to get them back,
how much love is needed to color me in?
you took away
all that made me me,
you left me broke
nothing but a sad joke,
you didn't just break my heart
you tore it out,
stole my soul,
scattered my parts
and laughed all the while
I tried to collect the pieces,
tried to find a way to smile,
drink after drink,
guy after guy,
anything to forget you for a little while
but every time I passed a mirror
I saw a broken reflection
for you still have my smile.
