The Shadow of Nothing

 it was a while then
long shadow from before
when the voice was softer
and the whine was lower

you were so there then
until you withdraw alone
so stuck in your own
dilemma...to or not to

so you create a shadow
of nothing
a muse out of something
that never came

a distant clang from broken bells
snuffed out candles
with old wax smell
the past seemed so distant

stuck on the bridge
you stood counting leaves
all red in autumn
and you began to die

the sand was draining
the glass seemed broken
there was silence
deafening.
