Love Me My Darling
love me my darling
for the softness
around my greying curls
the light of my love
in my aging eyes
love me my darling
for the tenderness
of my callous hands
for the patience
in my cracked heart
love me my darling
for the gentle love
I offer you
and the flickering glow
of an enduring passion
you are the find of my Autumn years
the diamond in my circle of Gold
Love me, for as long as the brightness glow
I will love you for as long as my breath is warm.

....as beautiful as autumnal love can be. This is so poignant and sweet. A departure from some of things you have been writing of late. I'm in love with this one dear Grace. Hope you win the competition : )

What can one hope for, Poetryman? Age is not kind most of the time..and love passion or lust will see only the beauty of youth. The wrinkles of the face and the sag of the flesh are met with derision most time and disgust, if one should look up in hope of being loved.:) Thank you for reading...

Tenderness and patience are two qualities that last and are to be cherished over physical beauty. I imagine your brightness will be glowing for many years to come. A wonderful write Grace. I'm no longer young so I know how this feels, the sag of years versus remaining aspirations, romantic and otherwise.
