"Madrugada"

There's a time
Between dawn and midnight
In Spanish it has a word of its own
And I think it deserves it

In this early morning of my life
Feelings, like light and darkness, intertwine,
And there's a reason to laugh,
For every reason to cry

I feel ready to leave,
The nerves and the fears grind my soul
Coupled with the oils of love and friendship,
Catalyzed nevertheless by denial and pride

I feel somewhat bound to stay,
These eerie hours are still bleak,
They are still nocturnal in a way,
But they're thinking of the sunlight

I wonder and I'm at awe before the last stretch,
The moment of goodbye,
The bittersweet mess I have made,
And how it comes undone

How everything that I've known,
Is now ready to be gone,
But still remains, somehow, clear as only the night can be,
And uncertain like the day that now begins...
