Beside Me

Early morning
sunshine,
filters through
broken blinds.
Softly kissing
her lovely face.
My hands touch,
fingers trace;
her beautiful lips,
on my fingertips.
Just watching
her sleep,
My thoughts
drift deep.
Why does she
love me?
Why do I deserve
someone so lovely?
While these thoughts
race, a smile spreads
on her face.
It brings me back,
to this place.
Where I love
to be,
watching her sleeping
next to me.
When she awakes,
my breath she takes.
I often lose myself
in her eyes,
Heart thumps
and sighs...
As I lose,
My browns
in her blues.
She sees me
like no one else,
Knows me better
than myself.
From her nothing
can I hide,
and in her all
things I confide.
This woman
sleeping by my side....
