What I Saw

I took a leaf that had dropped from a tree  
And pondered some things that didn't have to be  
Like the thirty two million dollar recreation place  
That is to include five hundred spots of parking space  
And the plight of nature if developers had total say  
Will there remain any outdoor place areas to play  
Encroaching on wildlife is the road the city leaders tote  
Of course the animals, streams, and trees don't have votes  
Then look to an adjoining city securing land for a new school  
Choosing the most sensitive land on the map just ain't cool  
Is forcing me to take harder look at running a city council spot  
For wrong prevails when the concerned do nothing is what I was taught...
