A Tender Adieu

poppies poisonous kiss
drips from my nettled lips

poison ivy thoughts choke
were we close or was it an illusion?

could be my going away
for so long left you cold

picking up the broken pieces
of all the conversations we've had

holding them in my hands
dusty with cob webs

staring at them in wonder
just a short infatuation

a lust never to be more
was my choosing

though I still long for your friendship
you never wanted that from me

intellectual demon
found no fascination with my intellect

I was a sexual tease
not to paint you as the villain

letting these feelings go
on a gentle breeze

I kiss them tenderly adieu
with hopes you prosper in all you endeavor
