20 word challenges ~

she tattooed
calligraphy wishes on
the rice paper feathers
of a fistful of origami swans
and set them to flame
watching
as ecru winged moths
flaked from the fragile folds,
desperate to escape
the aeruginous glow
burning
turning
them to dust

and when the sooty motes
were swept
from
her scorched palm
they revealed
the shattered remains
of her spun sugar heart
beneath
the marcescent canopy
of cinnabar
and jacinth leaves,
she held out
her bloody hands
in invitation
and waited
patiently

mute swallows fanned
from limp silk flowers
in a frenzied glaucous gyre,
breaking their fragile necks
against rose tinted glass
where saline clung ceraceously
to her shadowed cheeks
in flexuouse patterns,
for the carromancer to
divine portents from
her increscent sorrows

he etched hieroglyphs
on jasperated orbs
and pressed an absinthial kiss
to her lunate lips,
catching tears on his tongue
and foolishly, she loved
the broch-like hues
glinting wildly in
his gun metal eyes,
forgetting the dangers
of illecebrous men
