The Lights went Out
rolling into a familiar warmth
and its not there
feeling for a familiar hand
and grasps empty air
tears on furrows
of deep sorrow
years of loving
gone never to return
fading lights at dusk
her eyes strain to see
beyond the cloudy veil
and remember his smile
the comfort of promises
soon to meet
engulf her soul
fluttering heart go free
like a dove
into the lighted sky
and the candles flutter off
with the passing breeze.
and its not there
feeling for a familiar hand
and grasps empty air
tears on furrows
of deep sorrow
years of loving
gone never to return
fading lights at dusk
her eyes strain to see
beyond the cloudy veil
and remember his smile
the comfort of promises
soon to meet
engulf her soul
fluttering heart go free
like a dove
into the lighted sky
and the candles flutter off
with the passing breeze.
