Inmate #183625

Shuffling orange sandals
and the screams of those who cannot handle
a cold concrete cave, ID bracelets, and toilet paper stuck to the ceiling.
In fact, the whole place could use a makeover cleaning,
I think to myself as my cellmates deep sleep breathing keeps me from dreaming.
I was just reading a book they gave to me called Halo
Then they just took it away because I guess that's just jail,
So the only peace of mind I find is in this slit of a window,
The sun seems to take me momentarily out of this limbo,
Oh how I wish i could walk free,
or at least fifty feet without the need to repeat my steps like circuitry.
It is pointless but i count the hours, minutes, seconds.
As i try and convince myself I learned my lesson,
God, I could never be a felon.
Time is so precious as i watch it slip past like sand out of an hour glass,
Oh please let this hour pass!
I am being emptied from within and I am unsure how long I can last.
