Time, Trees and Trapdoors

Shuffling through life like a lobotomized zombie
disconnected, jumping from one tree to the next
the tree of life holding the hands of time

the tree of death to which my soul is bound
licking the flames of my own destruction
slipping in and out of the abyss

the depths of it's blackness drinking from my core
I jump through the trapdoor of delirium
where it doesn't matter if i'm a whole soul

my time slowly ticking away
I've traded heroin for drinking
there seems to be a void in me I can't fill

the light out of this nightmare
shines for me but I evade it's warmth
taking shelter in the cold

I wonder if there will be a trapdoor in hell
