It is virtually impossible to be serious with you around, Paul. Danny, that last line is brilliant and a forlorn reminder that despite how individually important we are, we are but minuscule particles of the whole that continues not because or despite or without us, but with us in tow regardless of what we want.

I love the poem. The last line reminded me of something I read by, WH Auden, After Reading A Child's Guide To Modern Physics:
"We have a better time
Than the Greater Nebulae do,
Or the atoms in our brains."
What good is this human knowledge of a flower or a sunset, or the whole universe that knows nothing of us? The universe will go on, but isn't it beautiful. Yet I think it tells us something of ourselves on a different level of interaction, it that maybe it knows something after all. I sometimes argue with myself though. I'm only a dreamer in the field :)
