She, in the mirror
sees all her flaws reflected
I see a goddess
My hips way too big
skin too white and breasts too small
Rubenesque delight
The truly strong man
with self confidence to spare
is kind above all

I'm not familiar with the Senryu form but I love this. A kind man can set an overly self-critical woman straight, substituting the word "Rubenesque" for fat, perceiving her as the goddess she is. Works both ways too. That lady can probably relieve some of his own insecurities when he looks in the mirror, gazing morosely at an old man. She might see a silver fox.

I agree on all points. I would hope for the silver fox assessment. I actually get turned on by Rubens' work...do you think that reads as cutting?

i love that word "rubenesque"... he had a great eye for a well rounded derrière, kinda makes ya wanna spank the canvas ltm
