You were everything that I was not

First day of school
I saw you in jeans and faded t-shirt
Lazy eyes and sly smile
You were hit and you were fun
You were everything that I was not
First day we went for outing
In the middle of singing crowds
Dancing to the beat of music
Drinking and smoking in nonstop rhythms
You were everything that I was not
First time in library, both of us
We were searching for the same book
You seemed shy not meeting my eyes
I felt something but realized much later
You were everything that I was not
First time I realized that something has changed
Curiosity and confusion mixed together
You were rough with sharp and confident edges
Popular and arrogant to the outer eyes
You were everything that I was not
First time we went out together
Conversation was slim and awkward
With pauses and blank spaces
You had shy smiles with nervous eyes
You were everything that I was not
First time we held hands
It was warm and comfortable
We filled the silence with understanding
Spaces with memories and laughs
Learnt how we fit together like puzzles, because
You were everything that I was not
