Today's World

Today's world is extremely cruel,
We walk through it like a drunken fool.
You can't stay out until the street lights come on,
In fear of getting shot to death and left on a lawn.
Every time you turn to social media or the news,
Your heart breaks and gains another bruise.
People leaving babies and dogs in hot cars,
Children and animals being abused causing scars.
Famous statues and flags being disintegrated,
When will the hate crimes and racial fights be eliminated?
We were all born with the same color blood,
Taught to lash out with words of nasty crud.
If only we had hearts of the innocent and pure,
The world would be full of love I assure.
