Who Do You Think I am?

I’ve have always tried to walk carefully
Through this veil or valley of tears
Believing that every human being
Had a duty to be an improvement
On their parents and to advance
Their understanding and knowledge,
Simply improving the way we deal
With each other as human beings
This has lead me to consider my sanity
And to much disappointment and heartache
Never the less I have fought not to become
Just another one of the masses, a number.
Unfortunately intently choosing to be different,
Better or trying to stand out has disadvantages.
Your motives will almost always be questioned
Your status is usually one of being a suspect.
Many people who know me tend to think
That I am just a grumpy old cynical git
But that’s only a label and as we know, people
Feel it necessary to label everything and every one.
This may seem strange to some but my motivation,
The main objective that I have is to try and make people smile,
Laugh, and maybe, just maybe look differently at life in general
Some of you will see that being the case, some of you will wonder
If that’s the case and some of you will not recognize that description at all.
This is as a result of the differential in human vision
We all look at others through our self made spectacles
With our own likes, prejudices and dislikes
We all label a person as what our skewed
Vision of what we see or we intentionally
Make them what they really want us to be
