Good Parenting 102

It starts with shouting and screaming
And brave but futile physical struggling
The world stops then moves in slow motion
As he removes his leather belt through loops
This movement so often it has become
Almost a ritualistic modern dance
The fear and anticipation builds
I know what is coming for me
Forcibly, painfully bent over double
The first lash bring the first sting
The first thwack of leather
More follows quickly and randomly
Leather hard and fast against buttock skin
Leather and buckle slap legs and back
Quietly screaming through gritted teeth
Praying that the next lash would be the last
Trying so hard not to wet myself
That would certainly mean extra lashes
Kicked to the floor it is suddenly over
The sting remains complimented
By a sever burning sensation
Left half stripped on linoleum
“Maybe you’ve learned your lesson”

There is absolutely nothing
That a nine year old boy
Can learn from a lesson
When the medium used
Is beating and whipping
Some parents enjoy corporal punishment
Just a little too much
Maybe their sexual preferences
Are the real issue
Beating a child achieves nothing
Apart from a beaten and broken child
